Exploring Our Relationships. Discovering Ourselves.

Welcome to

The Authentic Lane Blog!

Hi, I’m Elaine.

I like helping people to tap into their best qualities and to recognize and encourage them in others. I’ve spent a lifetime learning how to be happy by living authentically. Being true to ourselves and open and honest with others can be daunting, but it’s so worth it. It’s something that can be learned over time, one concept at a time.

As a lifelong reader and curious observer, for me being authentic often means going a little deeper to get to the heart of the matter. In my posts, I’ll be offering a sincere and thoughtful exploration into the most intimate and emotionally satisfying aspects of personal growth. I’ll also make suggestions, based on my own experiences, about how you can look within and discover who you truly are, with the goal of helping you to create a more fulfilling life for yourself.

If you’re ready to get started, read on!

How Managing Expectations Helps Prevent Disappointments

It’s human nature to want things to go our way. But the more tightly we hold onto our ideas of how things should be, the more we are disappointed when they don’t turn out that way. Managing our expectations can help.

Embracing the Concept of Good Enough

The pandemic has caused us to learn many new skills, and to change some of the ways we parent. In both cases, we are better served by keeping the emphasis on trying, and on good enough, rather than perfect, outcomes.

Why Holding Space is a Better Way to Help

Sometimes when someone shares a problem with us, it can throw us into a frame of mind where we feel compelled to take quick action on their behalf. A better idea is to let them know you have confidence in their ability to work through things themselves.
